Role Summary
The Planning Engineer will be responsible for preparing, updating, and controlling construction schedules during the execution phase, ensuring that site activities are aligned with project milestones. You will act as the planning backbone for the project, providing clear look-ahead plans, progress tracking, and analytical reports that support timely decision-making by the PMC, client, and site teams. Your work will directly impact recovery of delays, cost control, and reduction of rework and quality issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, update, and maintain detailed project schedules (baseline and revised) in MS Project or Primavera P6 for RCC, finishing, and basic MEP works during the execution phase.<br />- Prepare weekly and monthly look-ahead plans in coordination with site execution teams, ensuring alignment with overall project milestones and resource availability.<br />- Track daily/weekly/monthly progress, prepare progress reports, S-curves, and dashboards for internal management and client/PMC reviews, highlighting variances and risks.<br />- Coordinate closely with site engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to collect accurate progress data, validate quantities, and update planning documents and schedules.<br />- Support cost and resource planning by linking BOQ items, quantities, and key resources (labour, shuttering, machinery) with the project schedule to improve productivity and cost control.<br />- Assist in identifying critical activities, potential delays, and bottlenecks, and support the preparation of mitigation and recovery plans in collaboration with the project team.<br />- Ensure planning inputs support quality and safety objectives by sequencing works logically, minimizing rework, and allowing adequate time for inspections and approvals.
