Concrete quality control - field note 002
by Vivaan Patel
The 50,000 cubic meters of concrete poured for the new flyover in Pune required stringent quality checks.
Vendor Sundar Cement delivered batches with slump values 30-35 cm, below the 40 cm target, risking surface defects.
- Reassess mix design and adjust aggregate ratio.
- Implement on-site slump testing before each pour.
- Train crew on proper compaction techniques.
- Monitor temperature to prevent rapid setting.
After recalibration, we achieved consistent finish quality, and the flyover now meets all durability standards.
